Casket of wood covered with vellum stained brown, overlaid with gold leaf and then ornamented with incised designs. Portions of the background filled in with red, blue and green tempera. On the front left ‘St Michael combating the devil’ front right ‘St Francis and miracle of the stigmata’ lid left ‘In medallion of foliage a representation of Charles V (Holy Roman Emperor) with/over the date 1532. Lid right ‘ a woman’s head’ probably Isabella of Portugal. Various other heads all with protruding chin and beard and each with a different headgear.
