Mission

OUR OBJECTIVES

The Museum of Leather Craft (IMOLC) is one of the finest collections of historic and contemporary items made of leather in the world. It is a collection that richly illustrates how important leather has been in society across the world over a millennium and, in particular, over the last five hundred years.

IMOLC’s mission is

➥ to collect, preserve, maintain and make publicly accessible, articles made wholly or partly of leather (including fur*).
to research and chart the history of the leather manufacturing and production industries, together with supporting documentation for the purposes of study, reference and general interest.

➥ to liaise with, encourage and exhibit, present day and emerging professionals using leather in life, industry, fashion and art.

➥ to bring the collection to and engage with an international audience, to share the collection’s diversity, demonstrating evolving and advancing technologies, the development of skills in design and manufacturing techniques and craftsmanship of the highest order.
